GIS Technician
Shea is a GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Technician with a passion for the intersection of multimedia storytelling, sustainable communities, and geospatial technology. He recently graduated from Appalachian State University with a B.S. in Community and Regional Planning alongside a certificate in GIS. Driven by his urge to travel, Shea studied Urban Planning at University College Cork in Ireland, one of the most sustainable universities in the world, which helped provide a multicultural perspective on various planning issues framed around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. he is passionate about the power maps hold to impact our perspectives on the world we live in.
Prior to joining Urban3 as a GIS Tech, Shea was a Research Assistant at Appalachian State conducting an exploratory matched-pair multiple case study comparing urban planning practices in the Scottish Highlands and Western North Carolina. He grew up in Asheville where he witnessed firsthand the city’s evolution into a vibrant urban center. The experience observing this transformation has fueled his passion for contributing meaningfully to the future development of communities.
